Cotti-Johnson Gives Back to Our Community

Cotti-Johnson

During the hectic and chaotic period that is the holidays, it can be easy to lose sight of the fact that this season can be extremely difficult for those in need. When someone finds themselves struggling to get by day after day, a little bit of generosity can go a long way toward helping them enjoy a safer season and a better quality of life. We’ve always taken that to heart here at Cotti-Johnson, so when we had the opportunity to support a neighbor in need, we jumped at the chance.

A few weeks ago, one of our employees came to us with the story of his neighbor, Keith, who had lost his ability to walk in a tragic accident where he was hit by a truck while walking his dog. Bound to a wheelchair, he lost the ability to do a number of things around the house that he once had, including keeping his furnace working. Well, earlier this year, that furnace finally gave out for good.

Keith called up his neighbor, our employee, as he lived just a few doors down. Our man discovered that Keith’s furnace was over 40 years old, and that parts for it would be flat-out impossible to come by simply due to the system’s incredibly advanced age. However, being that Keith and his wife were on an extremely limited income due to his lack of ability to work, he knew their budget for a replacement was limited.

That’s when our man came to us with Keith’s story, and we decided this was a wonderful opportunity to give back to someone in need. Keith and his wife had been without heat for a few weeks at this point, and with the weather quickly turning colder and colder, we knew they wouldn’t be able to keep it up much longer.

We donated a brand-new furnace to Keith and his wife, completely free of charge. Our man completed the installation, and now they will be warm and comfortable in time for Christmas (as well as for many additional winters and holiday seasons to come). We also discovered that Keith’s home needs some electrical work, so we have also volunteered to complete that work completely free of charge as well.

Keith’s story is just one of what we’re sure are many, many more in our community, and we’re extremely proud of the fact that we were able to ensure this story has a happy ending. As a local business, we love to have the opportunity to give back to those in need when we can, and volunteering to donate a new furnace is just one way we can help someone in a bad situation have a happier and more hopeful holiday season.

If you need help with a heating issue this holiday season, we would love to be there for you as well! Give Cotti-Johnson a call at (774) 768-5154 today to request a service appointment.
